19th Century Four Poster Double Bed, 1890s

This is a very unusual bed it has slightly square lines with pierced decorated central post leading up from the centre supporting the wide over bed canopy. The bed head and foot have chunky brass rails enclosed in the heavy bed frame and they have very attractive finials at each corner. This bed originates from India often know as a Raj bed, the bed is handmade, it dates circa 1900. The Raj bed is specially made so that it can be easily dismantled so this one will have ease of access to most awkward to get to locations, the bed has its own wooden base and needs only a mattress to complete it. The bed is in very good sound condition, it comes with its original slatted mattress support The Bed is 83” tall, 60” wide, and 85 long, it takes a standard 5ft mattress.
