A rare late 1940s gold lamé evening bag, featuring all-over gold and silver bullion appliqué work, in a stylised daisy, petal, bud and geometric design, the pistils of round and oval cabochon moonstones (total weight for the 12 = 36cts), alternating with round cabochon amethysts (total weight for the 6 = 16.2cts), the 17 buds of round garnets (total weight = 13.6cts), comprising of one gusseted compartment with one concealed pocket, two patch pockets and one front pocket, fully lined in a yellow satinised lining, suspended on an optional gilt Prince of Wales chain strap, finished with a grown-on flap and press-stud closure.
