\n Georges-Louis Leclerc, Count of Buffon (1707-1788) was a French naturalist, mathematician, and cosmologist. Buffon published thirty-six quarto volumes of his most well-known work, Histoire Naturelle. Original and delightful engravings from the 1853 edition featuring le geai bleu de l’Amérique du Nord (North American blue jay), le geai commun (Eurasian jay), le rossignol (nightingale), and le rouge-gorge bleu de l’Amérique septentrionale (blue robin of North America), custom framed and matted.
