Fine French Bronze Bird Sculpture by Ferdinand Pautrot (1832-1874)

A lovely 19th century bronze, retaining a light gold patina, of a small bird by Ferdinand Pautrot (1832-1874) Poitiers, France. It would look fabulous displayed on a stack of petite books.
Ferdinand Pautrot showcased his work at the Salon in Paris between 1861 and 1870, though little information exists about his personal life. His artistic focus predominantly revolved around creating sculptures of various animals, including dogs, birds, wildlife, and horses. Notably, Pautrot’s sculptures are distinguished by their remarkable attention to detail and their ability to capture the naturalistic essence of the subjects, making them appear as though they are in genuine motion rather than posed artfully.
Ferdinand Pautrot’s highest auction sale was at Christie’s in London, England in 2004 for $35,990.
