Vintage Danish Rosewood Modular Wall Unit by HG Furniture, 1960s

Scandinavian modern 3-bay floating shelving system by Danish architects Rud Thygesen og Johnny Sørensen manufactured by HG Furniture (Hansen & Guldborg) Denmark.
This system is modular so cabinets and shelves can be placed as desired. Very light visual impression, but ample storage space.

Beautiful rosewood/palisander veneer with expressive grain pattern and strong color. Interior lined with light oak veneer. Excellent craftsmanship and quality, built to last for generations. Signature “Eyelid” pulls in solid rosewood.

This system has many of the same features as the wall units designed by Finn Juhl, Poul Cadovius and Kai Kristiansen. and is based on the same principles of adaptability.

This system consists of the following elements:
4 Uprights, length 174 cm
2 Cabinets with double sliding doors, 40 x 89.5 x 50 cm.
1 HiFi cabinet with hinged doors, 40 x 89.5 x 50 cm
4 Shelves, depth 30 cm

The two cabinets with sliding doors features four drawers and two height adjustable shelves in one and four height adjustable shelves in the other.
The HiFi cabinet has two adjustable shelves with holes for wiring. The top of the cabinet is hinged to allow access to a record player/turntable from above. Built in light and the back of the cabinet.

Back is stamped with “Danish Furniture Makers Control” and HG Furniture logo.

Very good original condition. Light patina consistent with age and use. Only a few small chips and scratches. Drawers and doors slides easily. Cleaned and polished. Ready for use.
